Naming your kids with the same first initial?

Similar vibe but no rhyming, so it’s not too matchy or twee.

OP here - The names are Naomi, Nola, and Nellie.

OP, my girls and I all have the same first initial. I had boys first and they do not (one is a jr).

They are young adults now and we are all still happy with that. I feel like we share this little bond as women. One is married now and took dh's last name so the names are different now anyways. If you like the names OP, go for it!

Nola and Nellie are way too similar.

We have 2/3 with same initial.

I have 3 with the same initial, and #4 has a different initial. DH and I just picked names we liked. Each time, we had 2 or 3 in mind, and settled on one when we met DC.
If someone met me with my 1st 3 DCs, and thought I was “tacky”, I do not care a whit.

It's super cheesy to me.

See, then I feel bad for the 3rd. Like what happened? Did the parents not like you and did not use the same letter for you as for your sisters? My friend is a J after two Ks and it just seems unbalanced.

That being said, I'm the second of two Js and we are still upset over a contest we both entered when in elem school....one of us won $50 but the mail/check was just addressed to J. Lastname! My mom thought both of our guesses were ridiculous and had no idea who won, so like Solomon she had us split the money. But that was still a lot back in the 80s!

Ha ha, I am the oldest in a J (girl), K (girl), J (boy) family.

Poor middle sister also is odd name out.

There was sibling teasing about it, but I am sure no one cares anymore. J boy name is also a family name, so there was a reason. I actually think K got the best name anyway.

Other pairings to avoid: Adam and Eve.

I’d also avoid…
Bonnie and Clyde
Jeffrey and Ghiselle
Napoleon and Josephine
Chuck and Camilla
Finneas and Herb
Tom and Jerry
Thelma and Louise

My sister, brother, and I all have the same initial with first and last names. My brother and I have the same initials with our first, middle (2 each), and last names. We never thought anything of it.

I have an employee who is one of 17. All have *R* names. There's a Rock, a Rochelle, and a Raylene. Some creativity was needed for sure.

Anonymous wrote:Is naming your kids with the same first initial tacky (even if it’s coincidental)? Our two daughters both have names that begin with the letter N, and I’m realizing that the name we have picked out for this baby also begins with N. It wasn’t intentional. Apparently we just really like N names. I think 3 may be pushing it, though! I just don’t want to enter into Duggar or Kardashian territory.

I know a family with 4 children who all have an uncommon letter "stuffed" in their names. The mom has a dcum mom "trashy" name, think Summer. The kids' names are either made up or respelled to accommodate this uncommon letter., think Jaxson. Another family I know does the same first letter for all their kids: Missy, Mindy, Melanie...it's tacky. Give #3 a different first letter. and don't do like another couple I know: dad is Mike, 2 kids: Melissa and Mitch, Mom is Katrina, 2 kids Kyla and Kirk.
