| Why is anyone even shopping at Giant when Wegman's is an option? |
I gave that example because it is identical brand milk. Wegmans Half gallon milk is cheaper by more than $1, bag of apples and tangerines are much cheaper. |
Sometimes I go there because it’s closer to my house and for quick in and out. |

I don’t get it. If the things you routinely buy are at lower prices at Wegman’s, then shop at Wegman’s. Decide for yourself how important factors like convenience, price, and selection are to you. As others have said, recognize that some stores price some items quite low — to attract shoppers who will also buy other stuff.
Personally, I buy different things at different stores based on prices and selection. I like Giant’s store brand aluminum foil and frozen vegetables. They usually have items that other stores near me don’t carry — like frozen squash. Wegman’s has delicious sushi, nicely priced contact lens solution, and great seafood. Trader Joe’s has a wide selection of dried fruit and nuts, great cheeses, and excellent prices for salmon, smoked salmon, and ground turkey. Whole Foods and Rodman’s are regular stops for me, along with more specialized markets. I don’t mind making multiple shopping trips over the course of a few weeks — others might have different priorities. |
Doesn’t matter to me one way or another. |
You were likely looking at the wrong sticker for those tomatoes or you selected the wrong kind at checkout. And if not, and the sticker was indeed right, you can take your items to customer service and they will give you the sticker price. |
| They all suck. If you don’t pay attention at the register, you are overpaying most of the time. I never used to pay attention but I have more time on my hands these days. Happens so often - price doesn’t come up as marked, or they accidentally put in 4 lemons instead of 3 etc etc. And half the time when I point out an error, they are slow to respond - like you want me to void this for 0.40? Yes. Yes, I do! It’s never in my favor and Because it happens all the time. Start paying attention. Happens regularly at Wegman and Giant. |
