| Lol - DS added another inch the first year of college. Now 6’4”+. |
Same, my DS hit 99% by a month old and at 14 and 6-3” will remain that way. A few years of big growth spurts but mostly he started big and stayed big. |
| Mine stopped at 21 6 foot 7 |
| DD is 9 and still in the 99th percentile. I cannot imagine her actually growing to be 6’ tall, but we shall see. |
+1 Try having a kid in tackle football or basketball and seeing the craziness and obsession with kid's size and height. I knew so many parents who were average or below average in size who had large elementary school kids and they went all in on their kid's stardom because they were taller than everyone else at age 11. Every single one had a kid who peaked early and stopped growing. |
Try having a kid who is super tall but has no interest in team sports. My nephew is 6’6” and doesn’t play basketball. Some kids are off the chart tall because they have a genetic mutation with other symptoms including heart defects. My nephew can’t play contact sports. I can only imagine the high school basketball coach seeing him walk down the hall trying to figure a way to make it work. Not all tall kids are interested in sports. |
My middle school daughter has been in the 85% to 99% every year. She’s done at 5’7” or 5’8”” I’m not sure exactly. My niece was tiny growing up and is now 5’8”. I don’t think it’s worth trying to predict but keep in mind that very few girls are 6’. |
| 99% DS since birth. Hit 6’3” at age 14. Still growing. |
| My 99th percentile kid was super tall through about age 11, then started dropping. Puberty was on the earlier side and he topped out at 5’10 (now 19). |
I also think the 99% for women starts at more like 5’10 (which is me). Agree that it’s unusual with 6’ being even more so. |
I didn’t know that. My sister is 5’10” and her girls are 5’10” and 5’8”. My other sister is 5’7” and her daughter is 5’2”. |
