I've used these for my family They were very accurate. I had received a blood transfusion a few years ago and mine was accurate. DH is a frequent platelet donor and his was also accurate. No way to tell for our kids |
Oh but this would just be for fun. Definitely have your doctor retest |
| My former OB tried to force me into getting RhoGAM shots (which are made from human blood and carry the risk of transmitting bloodborne pathogens) because someone made an error and marked me as Rh-negative when I’m actually Rh-positive. 🙃 He refused to believe that I knew my own blood type and even tried to shame me for refusing something that I knew I didn’t need. Never underestimate the ego of a doctor. |
| I'm a blood donor (A+), as are my parents (A+ and O+) and siblings (A+ and O+) so I have a very good idea of what my blood type is. If a doctor told me every previous place I gave blood was wrong and my parents and sisters were somehow wrong and I was B, I'd be demanding a retest. When one test is an outlier with all previous data, you check that test. |
I would argue that they might even be more accurate in some instances because you’re not relying on someone else in a lab. You do it all yourself. |
Errr.... Im glad you didn't accidentally get the rh shot if you didn't need it and you were able to get him to reflect your blood type But I thank God for the Rh shot. I don’t care what it contains. Both of my kids are alive because of it My grandmother lost 7 of her 9 pregnancies. |
I’m very sorry to hear that. The benefits definitely outweigh the risk for people who are Rh-negative and legitimately need it, but the risk outweighs the benefits for people like me who are Rh-negative and do not need it. |
| Rh-positive*^ |

I would get a blood type test from Labcorp or Quest or such. Just order online and book it directly for a blood draw appointment at one of their facilities. If the results disagree with your doctor, then bring in the paperwork to your next appointment.
You might be able to upload paperwork (printouts from Red Cross, Labcorp, etc) to your medical portal. That will get the attention of the Head Nurse, which is who you really want to track down an office mistake. The doctors don't really handle operations. |
Sorry, I mean that presumably the blood was drawn for a reason such as getting blood sugar for gestational diabetes. So if they mixed up the results, OP also doesn’t know if she has high blood sugar or GD. |

They do type donated blood.
But the card...I got one after first donation. If it was wrong, would they have told me or just tested and labeled the blood correctly? |
| My actual blood type is A+, but my A antigen is weak, so my blood type often appears as though it’s O+ when tested. I was considered type O for the longest time until it was noticed. |
| I wonder if they gave your mistyped blood to someone, its odd |
