Carleton - Is it a reach RD?

Even 20 or 30 years ago, some of us with stats competitive for the Ivies preferred Carleton.

Given that they are a small LAC, recruited athletes really skew the admission rate upward. But if you take out the students who are only getting in due to full coach support, the admission rate is very low and definitely makes it a reach for almost everyone (except recruited athletes).

It's a fabulous place so worth applying to! Just be reasonable about expectations.

Carleton recruiting athletes? I'm pretty sure most large high schools would beat Carleton in team sports...

No one in your HS class would be ED'ing to Yale because Yale has never had ED.

Not true. My sister ED’d to Yale in 1987. Was deferred and ended up at Harvard. Took herself off their list.
