If your kid applied to JMU and/or Virginia Tech from an FCPS HS, would you

Really? That's good. I feel like there were posts last year where kids with high stats were not admitted.

I'm sorry, but the above poster is trolling. All you have to do is check SCHEV to see the stats of admitted students.

We are at a very large FCPS public.

My dd was admitted to Tech and waitlisted at JMU. We *think* it might have been solely due to the gender balance at both schools but who the heck knows.

7 APs, 3.9 weighted GPA, 1290 SAT.

I don't understand the stupid trolling on this thread, which is a very basic request for information to help a kid make course decisions.

It would help if people noted the year and major as well!

Also note the district of the GPA and whether they were in state or out of state.

Waitlisted at VT for business major. Definitely knew people in his class (close friends) with lower GPA’s and SATs, who got into liberal arts majors at VT.

JMU business and honors college acceptance

This was the same situation with my son, except he was an IB Diploma candidate and his SAT was 1370. Waitlisted for business at VT and accepted into JMU business and honors college. He ended up at a liberal arts college, not studying business.

2025 grad. White female. 4.25 weighted gpa at time of applying (higher at graduation). 1350-ish SAT. In at both JMU and VT. Non-engineering, but STEM-ish major.

The thread title specifies *FROM AN FCPS HS*.

My dd applied to both last year from an FCPS HS. Liberal arts major, 8 APs, 3.5 GPA, 1320 SAT, didn't get into VT, WL at JMU, went elsewhere.

No chance. Thanks for playing.

This is similar to my daughter this year, and we are waiting on JMU results. Didn’t even bother applying to Virginia Tech as we know we have no chance. What were some of the schools that accepted your daughter and what kind of school did she ultimately choose?
