Get him an essay coach who will help him with the process. Tell them you also want him to improve his writing. Make sure they will keep his voice and not just rewrite the essay for them. The coach we used kept changing my kid's words to hers. We changed them all back!

Changing words is ok if the general voice and vibe are kept. Kids have NO idea the level of insight, polish, and crispness required for successful T20 essays.
