What's wrong?
It is a cult.
It is a place where hate and racists breed.
It is indoctrination.

How do you not know this?

I’ve never heard of it but the name alone would keep me from looking further into it. I don’t trust these made up religious org that focus solely on teenagers.

There’s an Instagram where kids tell their stories about the sexual assaults that happened at Young Life, how they would fire mandated reporters for doing their jobs and reported sexual abuse. I wouldn’t count on your teen being safe at this camp.

At least you distrust the entire parachurch. That's a valid viewpoint in Christianity.

Why are posts calling out the cult being deleted?

Because I reported one - by a poster who always says the same thing on any thread remotely related to Christianity - as being pointless and demonstrably false. I guess when admin came to clean that one up they cleaned up the rest too, but you'd have to ask on Website Feedback.

Even if you think YoungLife is an actual cult, you can get the point across to OP by using better words. For example the people who brought up actual issues at actual YL camps: that's useful feedback.

Fine. I would be very concerned about indoctrination. I would also be concerned about sexual abuse. I know two people who were abused at Young Life lock-ins by their beloved "youth minister." This is a pretty frequent occurrence among teens in these types of religious organizations - beware of youth ministers.

Ok useful feedback.

Younglife has sexual Misconduct Allegations and Cover-ups: Multiple former members, staff, and volunteers have accused the organization of ignoring, mishandling, or actively covering up complaints of sexual assault and harassment over decades. Lawsuits and formal complaints to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) have been filed, with victims speaking out through platforms like the @metooyounglife Instagram page. Critics claim the organization's structure and national policies—which group serious crimes with consensual behavior like same-sex relationships—create an environment where misconduct flourishes and local chapters are ill-equipped to respond appropriately.
Federal Investigation: As of late 2021, Young Life was under federal investigation by the EEOC based on claims from four women who alleged they were removed from the ministry for reporting sexual misconduct.
LGBTQ+ Policies: The ministry has faced pushback and criticism over its stance and "sexual conduct" policies, which some former members and advocates argue are discriminatory against LGBTQ+ individuals. A leaked document outlining expectations for leaders sparked the "#DoBetterYoungLife" social media movement calling for inclusion.
Environmental Violations: In May 2024, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) fined Young Life's Castaway Club over $150,000 for numerous wastewater violations at its camp, including modifying systems without approval and improper discharge of hot tub water, posing risks to the environment.
Christian youth group under fire over alleged LGBTQ policy

The Federal investigation is ongoing.

More sexual molestation, child abuse, child rape cases have occured in 2022,2023,2024 and 2025 all are public record all can be found online.

Also, if one goes on instagram, FB and Tictock one can see the racist antisemites that Young Life breeds and these sub humans put Younglife in their profiles.

This was a public school and I wouldn’t say these kids kids were evangelical or into extreme religion. Mostly a mix of Christian denominations- some didn’t even go to church regularly, had boyfriends, and were very much normal teens.

I'm sure it's a different organization than it was 30 years ago, but when I was a teen, there was a lot of sex among Young Life members.

They are all types of kids. None are crazy or in a cult. My kids are older now but it makes me wish I had known about them earlier because they all say good things about the camps.

Honestly, I also had preconceived notions about YL being a religious cult but I have more kids than ever talking about it this year.

Try again

As a parent of a teen in an Arlington neighborhood high school, I am alarmed by the way this org is working its way through the social networks that surround our kid. I feel like it is a pipeline to the alt right, trad wife, "traditional family values" version of white (literal) washed Christian belief and I do NOT like it. For reference, I had many years in a pentacostal interdenominational church that I attended in my college years. The technique of recruitment is identical. Don't let your teens do this, unless you yourself are there and can for certain determine their safety and the religious instruction align. Of course teens have free will, and once in college more freedom, but the way this thing is snaking through a public high school is very alarming.
