School marked my kid absent when she was in class—WWYD?

DC middle Schooler had the same experience, as the teacher mixed up same last name kid absent that day. DC contacted both teacher and school but it was never corrected.

Do you think there is some person or agency that is going to sit around thinking about this? Like, a college admissions officer has time to review the daily attendance records and be like “ah ha! Looks like this kid might have skipped third period 2 years ago! DENIED!”

You've spent waaaaay too much time on this already. You let them know, you have the email if it ever comes up again (why??) and it doesn't matter. Just let it go!

This is why you don’t put your kids in public school

You all are nuts. It absolutely does matter because if it’s unexcused absence, the teacher does not have to let them make up the work they missed and they can receive 0s which affects their grade.

OP - make sure your daughter was actually in class and isn’t lying to you before you contact the admin.

No you are nuts! I’ve got a kid in college and I can tell you no admissions officer ever cares about something this minor

In public school this does not matter. Work can still be made up, excused or not.

It happens all the time. I'm a teacher. But when the kid points it out, I have a specific person I am supposed to email to fix the attendance record. It's not a big deal. Very weird that your school makes it into one, unless the teacher legitimately doesn't think she was there.
