No, it is actually so common after vaginal delivery that providers don’t tell you you have it unless you really press them. Severe prolapse (Grade 3/4), where the organs protrude out of the vagina is not as common in pre menopausal women, but most vaginal deliveries have some degree of prolapse. With 5 vaginal deliveries, for instance, I would be very surprised if one did not see bulges at the level of the hymen when bearing down. It’s just not commented on if you don’t raise specific symptoms — even if you go to a urogyn for stress incontinence, they aren’t likely to raise peolapse to the hymen unless you ask. And organ placement can’t be fixed with PT, unlike the scar tissue issues that c section women often have that cause PF tightness or weakness — that’s a classic MSK issue that can be greatly improved with PT. (Also, you can do all the “right” things in pregnancy and delivery and are still likely to end up with prolapse — it’s simply the physics of vaginal delivery.) |
