Tell me about the Mummers Parade

Op here. Went to the parade and we enjoyed the scene! This felt like a nice slice of life/community event. It was way too cold to stay out for the whole thing (we braved the first four hours with a lunch break at Misconduct). Later we found out that some of the string band members were injured in the morning because the winds were pretty bad and some props flew. Thereafter they changed up the schedule for the string bands, and there was no longer a competition and no one could use their props. We had taken the advice of some others and walked up Market and JFK and some of the side streets to see some of the groups lining up. We wanted to wait for the string band portion since I heard they were best but it was just too cold so we decided to watch the string band portion on TV, which was also still fun. all in all, really glad we went.
