Ha! I once stayed in a B&B in Ireland and as I was leaving, I discovered they didn't change the sheets between guests! As I was waiting for my cab outside, I saw the owner go in and re-make the bed I had just slept in WITHOUT changing the sheets. I thought the room had a "stale" odor when I entered. I can only imagine how many times they did this before they washed them.
Needless to say I never recommended that B&B to anyone! FWIW I have a relative whose house I refuse to stay in. Last time visiting (during summer) her husband (wearing a sleeveless t-shirt) came in from mowing the lawn and wiped his dripping, sweaty underarms with the dish towel, then hung it back up. Can it get much worse than that?! |
| Gross but mostly a sign they don't want guests. |
This. |
| I’m currently doing a load of sheets because one guest just left and more are coming later today. I wash all the blankets too. I can’t imagine not washing the bedding. |
|
Always, always change sheets! Cannot even imagine not doing that!
We have a dedicated guest house/carriage house over our garage which gets a lot of family/ friend use so I have one really nice set of sheets and good pillows ( as good sleep is hard when a guest) and a 2nd set I picked up from target. Just in case. Not hard to just keep two sets if you can’t get to laundry immediately! |

| Thoughts? It's gross. I can't believe someone would not change the sheets between guests. It never occurred to me that someone wouldn't change them! |
Many Europeans don't even bathe more than once or twice a week! So it's a cultural thing over there to be dirty and many don't even realize it. |
| I’m a houseguest right now and the cloth napkins on the breakfast table were refolded and put back at each place setting after breakfast. I couldn’t tell if it was intentional or not but I collected them as I was helping clean up and asked “where do the dirty napkins go?” I was told “oh we were just going to use them again for dinner”. Nope. |
| Disgusting. Knowing this, I would bring my own sheets. |
|
Sheets are so easy to wash. I'll do a light cycle if say it's just a teen girl in pajamas, a longer cycle for adult couples.
I also wash all throw blankets before guests as they will often use them during the day/evening. That's really gross. You don't know how clean people are... who sleeps naked... who's sweaty... ugh. Regardless though, sheets should always be washed. A used pillowcase is gross too. I put double pillow cases on guests pillows just for a little extra clean. |
Wow, that would really have me wondering what other "shortcuts" they're taking. Yikes. |
Ugh about the dish towel. I brought a skor apple dip to a get together once. I brought the apples in a container & wanted to spread them on the platter. Went to the kitchen to wash my hands and used the hand towel after which I realized that their hand towel was absolutely covered in dog & human hair. So gross. |
Ugh! I’m the above poster with the used cloth napkins. But also while working on desserts yesterday I had to wash everything before I used it - the cutting board was sticky with obvious streaks of blueberry or something, the mixing bowl had bits of flour in it, the knives were crusty… |
Seriously?? That's nasty! |
