When to start with tampons?

13 now and she’s still a hard no. I think it’s fine whenever but don’t need to push it if there is resistance. She’s ok wearing pads and seems to manage. She knows in any bathroom except her own to wrap in TP and put in the trash.

She doesn't wrap then in tp in her own bathroom?!

I’m assuming there is no reason to not offer them from the start?

I almost always used a liner with it as well, but do they just use period underwear now as backup?

And back in the day I always flushed them - yes I know now that you’re not supposed to. But how do you dispose of them without leaving a mess?

Mine did with her first period. I had given her some to see, unwrap, etc. And pointed her to the teen sections of playtex/tampax so she could watch videos and get comfortable.

YOu wrap them in TP and put in the trash. Not a big deal. If you have pets, use a trash can with a lid.

I gave our daughter the option to choose what works best for her.

Did you include tampons, the Diva cup, and period underwear?

NP and yes, we did.

There are probably YouTube tutorials as well, but my kid figured it out without too much drama. The ones with the applicators are definitely easier.

My cousin from Oregon told me her hippy mom did the same “live demonstration” thing for her when she first got her period.

I bought DD pads, tampons, and period underwear pretty early on. She tried the underwear a little at the beginning but never liked it. She’s an athlete and always refused to try tampons. We have them in our house, if she ever changes her mind. She’s not a swimmer and has used pads for years. Lots of her friends use tampons but she has no interest.
