So to avoid being called ableist we let a child continue to have gait and speech issues, possibly undiagnosed reasons for eye or facial geometry issues when they might be treated?

That's like to avoid being called Fauci clones we encourage neighbors who are on the fence about vaccines not to have their kids vaccinated against measles or get tetanus shots when they step on a nail or get rabies shots for their dogs,

Glasses. Not a big deal. Girl in my family all had glasses in elementary. Get cute, colorful full age appropriate frames. Make sure they fit correctly.

Limping. This is a huge concern. Please got to your pediatrician. Point this out and ask for a referral to an OT or PT, whatever they think is best.

Affect. Not exactly sure of your meaning. Again, go to your pediatrician and ask for a referral. Neuropsych eval, psychologist, social worker… something.

How long have you been seeing your current pediatrician? Have they ever had concerns about your child’s development?

Limping. Not due to injury just the way she walks?!?! Could be hip joint, leg length, neurological, many things that need to be ruled out or treated. Even a simple orthotic, ffs.

Froggy looks. Is this eye, mouth, facial geometry? Bulging eyes could be thyroid or cancer.

Imitate her voice? What about her voice? Hoarseness could be GERD, other things due to other things.

No one is saying mocking or bullying is ok but the river of parental denial running through this child's life needs to end.

This is easy to say as an adult. Do you remember childhood? Being different or weird sets you up to be bullied.her mom shoukd be helping her.

This child is still very young and still cultivating her psychosocial self image. It is difficult to change yourself image as you age in this impacts many areas of your life. that is the reason to try to help her at this stage.
