This is the answer. I recently tapered from 50 mg to 25.

I hate to tell you, but 25 mg isn't really therapeutic. My derm tapered me to that and I got a ton of cysts a couple months later once the dose settled. I ended up clearing with salicylic acid and quitting the spiro altogether.

For some people it is! I do great on 25 mg spironolactone and have no breakouts. Higher doses makes me lightheaded. I've tried to stop a few times over the last 5 years and my acne comes back when I stop. (I'm a new poster.)

I haven't had any acne since I started spironolactone and I'm on the lowest dose (50mg)

Who are you to judge what does and does not work for some one? What works for PP may not work for you - you may be larger, than her have different hormonal levels, etc.

Spironolactone did not work for me, and because I already have low blood pressure, it made me lightheaded and increased my fainting.

Did not work for me either. It made my boobs swell massively and painfully. Tretinoin cleared things up.

I have a healthcare background. I cannot find any medical data out there suggesting 25 mg is therapeutic. There's some references to that dose as a test starting dose before titrating up, but I can't find anything suggesting that dose for long term control. If you can, let me know.

Something wrong with your hormone levels. See endocrinologist, or clean up your diet and lifestyle if you cannot afford a doc visit, etc.

FYI I didn’t have acne as a teen and then in my 20s I started getting those red pimples on my cheeks, they seemed deep, would keep reappearing etc.. just like others mentioned

Took me a few years to get the right diagnosis but turns out it was rosacea … topical antibiotic treatments (oral antibiotics to start) took care of it.

But I had to change my habits and diet to identify the triggers (no more red wine for me). And every 6 months or year I need another round of treatment

Yup, this really reduces inflammation. Sucks, but it’s true.

Stopped all dairy. If I even eat some milk chocolate I break out.
