Fingerprinting no longer required for Level 3 Volunteers

No it wasn't. Mess from the very beginning in August with no end in sight.

It was and has been a mess. But would you rather they kept the non-working process in order to not make a change mid-year?

They aren't related.

It probably has to do with the government shutdown, not FCPS lack of planning.

No, it doesn't.

It has nothing to do with the shutdown. The pause is a way of walking back something that wasn't going to be attainable and was a complete mess from the start, though well intentioned.

Can someone please explain how this works? The next step in the workflow is for me to set up a fingerprinting appointment. How do I get past that?

Me again, I sent them an email and nobody has responded.

FYI, when I sent an email I September, I got a response 10 days later.

A couple of days ago they sent an email that you don't need to set up a fingerprinting appointment anymore. You need to sign some sort of paper that you are not a criminal.. I have no idea what it looks like within the website.

Yes, I understand this, but when I went into the website, it is asking me to set up a fingerprinting appointment.

Can I rescind my application if I have been fingerprinted and am waiting for the background check? Or will they process the application?

"We need to verify that you do not have a criminal history with children, and the only way to do that is to fingerprint and background check you."

2 months later:

"Wait, this is taking too long. Can you just pinky promise you've never hurt a child? Thanks."

This exactly. How ridiculous, so much time and resources wasted, and now it’s pretty much the same as before.

Our school sent an email today going a step further and saying that level 3 fingerprinting is paused, and field trip chaperones are now considered level 2. 🙄

I received that email but from the county, not our school.

Our school sent the message yesterday, and also if you look on the Volunteer FCPS website, regular field trip chaperones are now Level 2. It also states that all new volunteers will have to sign an attestation statement saying they have not committed a violent crime.
