No, more like big tech vs everyone else. |
| Humans will just become energy sources ala The Matrix |
That largely depends on where UBI comes from. If the government prints or borrows the money, it will be inflationary since the money appeared from nowhere. If it comes from taxes, salaries will stagnate. There will be more competition for certain foods, and some prices will up unless there is a change in the way that good is produced. Taxing companies at 80% will see them quickly offshore. You will be forced to use an income tax. |

If you go back about 200 years about 70-80% of people were farmers, now is is about 1.5%. Technology dramatically changed farming. A modern combine would blow the mind of someone from 1800. But that 70% didn’t just stop working long term, new jobs were created.
Even if AI takes away 70% of jobs: in the long term, people will find other occupations. |
I’d support UBI and basic healthcare now. If we can have billionaires, we can everyone’s basic needs met. |
If self-made billionaires can invent and develop businesses which make them wealthy, everyone can meet their own basic needs for themselves. Envy is not a substitute for ambition, motivation, and personal effort. |
| lol they won’t release SNAP funds, you think they’ll give UBI …. As if. They care not a whit if we starve. |
You think we’ll be the only country with superintellent AI and robots? Think again. |
If we split all of Bezos' wealth, $260 billion, across 400 million Americans, that's a one time $6,500 payment. We don't have enough Bezos' for your scheme to work. |
Troll. |
This is a brain dead take on PP’s post. I imagine you think you’re intelligent and self-made, but you clearly couldn’t think your way out of a paper bag. |
He's right, though. If you think that that UBI can work and have a way to pay for it, show us the math. |
Why start with math that is clearly too complicated for you? You lack basic reading comprehension. And critical thinking skills. |
But it's free money! Too bad for Bezos, of course, but yay for the rest of us who did nothing to deserve it, and more than wealthy people are somehow liable for satisfying the wants and desires of others. |
Indolent leech. So there. |
