What do you not understand? Republicans never ever were going to reopen the government. How did you not know that? |
I work with a lot of government relations folks in my org and they seem to think that this is a very real possibility. Open long enough to get the benefits and paychecks out and then another shutdown after 11/21. |
While I don’t think the govt will never reopen, I actually think it will in a couple of weeks, we all know if Trump told Congress to get it reopened, Johnson and Thune would be tripping over themselves to get it done. |
I actually think this is the best strategy for the Dems. Monday morning people can start looking at their ACA premiums. Election is Tuesday. Vote the CR that’s on the table on Wednesday. It’ll force the House to return to deal with 11/21 and beyond. Very curious to see how the elections go on Tuesday. |
| What elections? |
Honest question - what do you get out of repeatedly posting this? How do you want people to react to the "information" you're sharing? |
Agree here as well. Get benefits out. Force the House to return and seat Grijalva. Epstein files and electoral clarity |
+1 This poster is annoying. |
Nov. 4, the Virginia and New Jersey governors elections, the NYC mayor election, among others, |

10/29 Politico - Politico: Nearly one month into the government shutdown, the vibes might finally be shifting.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune says bipartisan talks to end the government shutdown have picked up. 10/29 Semafor - Moran: "Something is different this week than last week" Slotkin: “The pace of conversation has picked up" Rounds: “Hopefully, between now and the end of next week, we will get this thing all resolved" Durbin: “I’ve talked to some Republicans who are frustrated and in despair ... there are many people on our side who are anxious to see this come to an end" Do people just not believe the preceding? I think it'll be over next week unfortunately. |
I don’t believe it will end until Trump wants to end. Also, no, I don’t believe them at this point. |
| At this point I’m praying for a Christmas miracle. No one cares. It’s humbling. I still cant believe congress paying themselves and not their own police officers. Do they really expect them to take a bullet for them right now? |
And what does any of that have to do with the shutdown? |
Neither side wants to do something perceived as unpopular right before an election. Not that it’s clear what voters support more. |
