Vandy has a lot of strivers too, and more and more so in recent years. Premed students by definition are grinders no matter where they study. |
you’re pulling stuff out of thin air. Vandy is easier based on naviance and overall stats. only 51% submit scores at vandy and scores are lower than hopkins. meanwhile they accepted 15% of their entering class from waitlist while hopkins accepted 2%. |
| Vandy will be an easier admit for a Stem student, particularly if non pre-med. JHU would likely be an easier admit than Vandy for a humanities/social science student. |
Not the Naviance that I have; it’s the opposite. Vandy is looking for — and gets — a particular type of student. Hopkins looks for -and does not get - a particular type of student, and ends up with only one type, precisely the type they are trying to get away from. |
What is the type jhu trying to get away from? |
Getting into Emory ED2 is harder than Vandy ED1. So its a waste of two rounds. Also Emory and Vandy aren't that culturally similar either. |
This! Vanderbilt glazing must end. If you're kid is TO, NYU, USC and Vanderbilt are the easiest T30s privates to get into. |
Outdated. Toured both in 2022 with my stem kid. Our JHU tourguides were 60% blonde/white kids; our Vanderbilt tour guides were 80% asian, mostly premed and engineering. |
JHU only has 20% white, and most are recruits playing lacrosse. Think you confused with Georgetown. |
JHU has a lot more asians than whites. They admitted about twice as many asians compared to whites last year. Not saying that's a problem just that your tour guide sample doesn't match the demographics. |
We just visited recently, this year they cut down Asian by 10% (30% Asian 20% white). I think they are making an effort to find a balance. |
gotta love the pathetic vandy trolls |
class of 2028 was 46% asian and 34% white. The gap has further narrowed |
| Emory is a great ED2 choice for someone doing ED1 at JHU. Similar vibe/demographics. |
Emory has poor stem however. Only similarity is urban setting. Might be more similar to Vandy than JHU. |
