Both my 1st 2 assignments I picked Middle school. Perhaps getting out of there would be helpful.

Will try Elem and HS next.

Why would you pick middle school? That’s on you. Everyone knows those are the hardest kids to manage. If you pick HS, best to stay away from 9th and 10th grades. 11th and 12th grade students are easier. They will most likely ignore you but that’s fine. At least they won’t do crazy stuff

Op here
I really thought Middle School would be easier than HS.
How do you pick the grades in HS though… the jobs just get listed as MS or HS, not by grades.

MS is definitely not easier than HS and unfortunately when picking up HS jobs there is no way to filter for grade level.

It is true what a PP said that 11th and 12th graders are way easier to manage than 9th and 10th graders who are basically like middle schoolers, but again - there is really no way to know what grades you will be working with when taking HS jobs.

No parenting. Teacher not allowed to discipline. So sorry for this dreadful state of affairs

If they can’t behave, throw these kids out

Try some of the area private school as well. It wont pay as much to sub but the kids are way easier.

Not allowed. Instead of throwing them out, they will evacuate the entire class to another room in order to allow the tantruming child to detroy the classroom. I had my room destroyed multiple times last year. One 5 yr old ruined a projector, doc camera, Smartboard, a good 1/2 of my classroom library all paid for by me), tons of anchor charts, student work, name tags, etc. She would've destroyed my laptop if my aide hadn't distracted her long enough to grab it and pass it to the teacher next door.

That’s insane. The parents should be billed for that. This shouldn’t be tolerated at all. I can’t believe you have to deal with that.

I can’t believe it either. The security guard/ police should be called to lift the child up and remove her / him from the school. The parents can get them from the station.

Parents should be called to get the child at once.

Extraordinarily unfair to students and teachers.
