| Guess I’m the sucker who listened today, but it was not what this poster made it sound like at all. Some colleges may be using Slate with AI abilities to scan transcripts and such in the future. It doesn’t sound like it’s happening too much at this point, however, and there was no mention at all about AO’s flagging essays for AI use, etc. |
I figured OP was full of it. |
| Whoever is not using AI to help with essays is going to be at a severe disadvantage to those who do. |
Best AI for college essay help? |
Or, and I'm just spitballing here, those who DO use AI will be at a severe disadvantage because their essays are so, so terrible. |
💯 So cliche. The alliteration is too much. The perfect sentence structure. It reeks. |
Only to people who dont know how to use them effectively, not just blindly generate an essay and submit. |

It’s stupid not to use AI as an editing and brainstorming tool. Those who are against it are just modern luddites. FYI I don’t use it often for my own tasks but I’ve looked at some of my kid’s assignments and I would absolutely use it because they didn’t make much sense to me (health class).

Nah, students should be aiming for authenticity. AI can't do that. |
| AI has a role in improving the human existence, the college application process is not one of those roles. This years application focus will be on test scores (can function if we admit) and zip code (income stream). |
I do think it’s exceptionally helpful for brainstorming. Editing, meh. Ideally kids should be able to carefully reread their work and edit for errors/typos. Let’s not encourage mushy brains. |
