Ohhh this has been a bad week for us between one parent laid up with an injury and multiple appts added into DS activities.
Monday - onigiri with salmon and side of cucumber Tuesday - Burger and fries and some broccoli Wednesday - chicken burrito which he didn't like so made some ramen and had oranges and tomatoes. Thursday - picked up a rotisserie chicken and pre made salad. |

I have no idea what my 16 yo ate beyond breakfast because I wasn't involved in lunch and I got home late while he was at a game (didn't play so I didn't go) and when he walked in at 9 he was on the phone so I hugged him and went to bed and assume he got something. I did notice that the cake I made Tuesday night is almost gone. So, a lot of cake?

Which kid? I have a 6 and a 9 year old. The 9 year old eats what we eat and always has. Loves salad and fish and soups. The 6 year old is pickier and will eat all the starch/carb sides, limited chicken and some beef preparations. All eat eggs and toast and yogurt for breakfast. They get a turkey sandwich or pasta and a hot dog (hot) for lunch with cut vegetables and fruit.
Dinners this week was: Taco night with impossible meat Roasted salmon and mashed potatoes and salad Flank steak, roasted carrots, potato gnocchi Today will be breaded chicken and green beans Friday probably tofu and veg stir fry and rice. I don't want to have pasta or rice or potatoes every night for health reasons for me and DH but we always make a little of something so it's on the table and the whole family can eat it so it's not a separate meal for the younger kid. |

We had a rough week - dealing with a sudden health issue for one parent.
Monday: Protein pasta with sauce Tuesday: Chicken, broccoli, potatoes (sheet pan meal) Wednesday: pizza Thursday: Will eat soup I made a few days ago Friday: Probably leftover pizza |

We spent years reading Kids Eat in Color and Ellyn Satter and whatever else in an attempt to get our youngest to eat what we eat. I no longer hold out hope that she'll try something 9 times and then finally accept it, or diversify her diet because those are the foods we offer, or eat well because we're good role models or whatever the hell else.
I make a huge thing of protein pasta (MUST be rotini) at the beginning of the week. I put everything family style on the table and if the spirit moves her she tries what we have. This rarely, rarely happens. Otherwise she eats only pasta and the rest of us eat in peace. My older two started to dread family meals where her preferred food wasn't available so something had to change. Dinners last week: Monday: NYT baked panko crusted fish with homemade tartar sauce, crispy roasted baby potatoes, green salad with dill vinaigrette Tuesday: grilled chicken thighs marinated in mojo sauce, black beans, roasted sweet potatoes or rice, pineapples Wednesday: baked ziti, salad, strawberries (rare thing the whole family ate) Thursday: Burger bowls or burgers, oven fries, kiwis Friday: takeout thai/pizza Saturday: leftovers/snacks/two kids were out Sunday: orange glazed salmon over salad |
|
Monday: ramen noodle stirfry with cabbage, carrots and leftover steak.
Tuesday: New England style chowder made with canned salmon Wednesday: black bean soup with corn muffins Today: tuna noodle vegetable salad They are 10 and 7. The only problem meal here was Monday, the younger one doesn't like steak because it's too chewy. |
It's definitely not everywhere. |
I forgot to add the frozen coke after dance 😃 No, Most days are not like this. I appreciate your concern. 😃 |

Mon - rigatoni with bolognese, salad, broccoli
Tues - Vietnamese caramelized pork with zucchini, scallion and zucchini pancakes, cucumber salad, rice Wed - pad see ew with rice noodles, green beans, zucchini, tofu, cucumber salad Thurs - lamb and beef kofta, basmati rice, cucumber and tomato salad, roast potatoes Fri - planning for korean bbq and whatever is left over from the week I have two teen swimmers so they need a lot of carbs and food in general. Also, I bought too much zucchini, so I’ve been trying to get through it. |
|
The teen ate what we did - spicy tofu, chickpea wraps, salmon and veggies, chicken curry.
The tween ate some noodles, cereal, yogurt, scrambled eggs. If she doesn’t want to eat what we eat she’s on her own. But I’m done fighting or forcing anything. They were both raised on table food and a wide variety of home cooked meals. |
