Vent post: HS soccer

Some of these coaches have no business working with kids. Of course not everyone can have equal playing time but at least explain why. These guys never do that.

She comes early to practice, works intensely, and does everything she is asked. There is no feedback for her, either. She doesn’t like to make waves but honestly I can’t stand to watch her get sidelined for kids who don’t have soccer as their first sport and aren’t better players. It’s not right. And she is not a freshman. For coaches out there, we parents just don’t get it…

-Could be she is small?
-Could be the HS Coach is also a Club Coach and prefers his/her own Club players over other players
-Could be she is missing some HS practices for Club practices and the Coach values more dedicated players over talented players?

At the HS level, this is supposed to prep them for adulthood, where everyone does not get Equal Playing Time. Athletes must learn to advocate for themselves and show dedication at practice.

your kid would rather play with their friends then their club team enjoy watching because in no time you will be missing it.

Very odd response to someone who is trying to help you think through reasons why your child is not playing as much as you think they should be playing.
Maybe your kid does not respond well if they are asked challenging and introspective questions.

I assure you, HS Coaches have standards & priorities that are different from Club (AKA Pay-to-Play) Coaches, which are likely impacting your kid's playing time. It is important to remain objective to better understand the position you find your player in. Looks like the PP was just trying t help and did not require answers.
