Low gpa high test score which schools for ED options?

What is top 25% GPA at this school (mid-tier private non-DMV)? Is it 3.7? Is it 3.8? Is it 3.6?

What is "bucket A" score on SAT? Is that 1500? Is that 1450? Is it 1550?

What is non-oversubscribed major?

More info will help us help you.

UChicago; Columbia; Michigan; WashU; Emory.

All depends on major though. Last two are probably best bet.

Umich is the easiest admit by far!

I think bucket A refers to Caltech's new system, each section 780+.

Yes, kid in top 25% of their high school class with a 1500+ SAT would definitely benefit from High Point’s unique educational environment.

A 1500+ should be in the top 5-10% of their class. Anything below that suggests a deficit in life skills like study habits and time management.

DP: At my kids' school, more than 40% of the class were NMSF or at least commended scholars. So you are making assumptions / diagnoses without a lot of context. Bad idea.

3.7 from STA/NCS/Sidwell with a 3.7 GPA and 1560 SAT is, as others have stated, a target for schools like Wash U, Rice, Cornell. I would not aim higher, as there are hooked kids with lower stats that will get in. If you're concerned, I'd aim for a school with ED that's a tier down - like Tufts, BC, BU. If it is a 3.7 from BCC with those scores, I would definitely be looking at lower-ranked schools as it seems like everyone from BCC has a 4.0.
