It was like this when I first started golfing with my Dad 30+yrs ago. We'd show up for the first weekend time of the day and there were usually a few side eyes and comments.

They soon shut their mouths though because I could outdrive most of them while playing off of of the same tees, didn't take practice swings, and since I wasn't trying to muscle the ball my shots were clean and straight, so my pace of play was quick.

Having a young woman outdrive you, can really mess with the head. Good times watching heads explode and games fall apart to the point where they were holding me up.

I've aged quite a bit since then and lack the club speed of my youth but I still have a decent enough short game so I can usually keep up.

I'm also teaching my DS to play so, if the prior group has already cleared the hole, and we weren't waiting for them to do so, we will let the group behind us play through. We also don't do the first a.m., we book twilight where possible on nicer courses. So, generally don't get much hate.

Find a group of women to play with. There is safety in numbers. And it will probably be more fun for you.

Yes 8am weekends. We work so that is best for us. We have chores to do.
I outdrove a guy once and he was so mad (not at me and he was not rude), I was like I'm hitting from the reds and he was like doesn't matter nobody should be outdriving me, he played D3 golf. LOL, but he was nice about it.
We plan to play some twilights now that the sunsets earlier... 8pm is too late for our old bodies.
I'm desperately trying to find more women but I think they mostly belong to clubs. I haven't found many women players.

This is public golf courses. This is why people pay a premium for a private club. Behavior like this would get the men involved banned. At a public track... nobody cares. This is also why there's a trend called "shrink the game," because Covid and viral clips have made golf too popular among trashy Americans, so purists seek to have fewer people playing the game.

You can join a private track for much, much less than $100K.
