Yes, it does. Tell that to the parents of the low-income student population at Einstein, whoare working three jobs just to put food on the table.

It's not just about SAT prep. It's about a lifetime with parents who talk more often to their kids and use bigger words when they do (both correlated with income), with one or more computers in the house, parents with high expectations because they can afford college.

SAT prep and taking the SAT anonymously multiple times is huge (for those of us that have taken exams our whole lives!!)

But I'll add that in my experiences as a teacher, I've taught some successful students who didn't come from money and who weren't raised with materialistic values. It's really about having responsible, supportive parents.

It's not always about money, but many posters on these boards often forget that.

I would like my child to go to a school where the main culture of the school and other students is to highly value education. It seems like this is more likely to be found in the higher socio-economic areas. I don't want my child to be around materialistic people either, but I do want her to be in an academically supportive environment.
