It is! |
| It’s generational and geographic. It’s less popular in wealthier areas and urban areas . Less popular in coastal areas like California or mountain areas. It’s more popular with boomers and GenX. Not sure about Millennials. My kids are GenX and don’t like it. They are more the Starbucks and Panera generation. |
| I just saw an MSNBC clip on YouTube two days ago saying that the next biggest market for fast food after the US was France. While I'm not shocked that Americans consume tons of fast food, I was shocked that there's been such demand for it in France of all places. I believe it said something like 47% of fast food consumed was from McDs and Burger King alone. Apparently they love hamburgers. But there was also appreciation for KFC and Popeyes in the clip. Also there was 61% increase in fast food consumption between 2013-23. |
| I have only eaten McDonald’s 3 times in my entire life. Junk food and now expensive. |
| I get a Diet Coke and a small fry every few years when we are on a road trip and stop to use the restrooms. |
| I do probably once a year. I just get a craving for a Big Mac. Nothing hurt, nothing gained. |
| McDonald’s has an amazing burger called the Daily Double which nobody seems aware of. Never seen it advertised. Reasonably priced, too. |
| We haven't eaten at McDonald's in 40 years except to buy a drink to use the restroom on vacations. |

People answering are not representative of all Americans.
"a little over one-third (36.6%) of adults in America eat it on any given day" Of course, a few people eat it every day, and a few never, but most people eat it at least occasionally and many people eat it regularly. https://thebarbecuelab.com/fast-food/ |
| Maybe once a month when the kids are craving it. I’m not sure how that stacks up to what you’ve been told. |
| I probably ate it maybe one every month or two as a kid. As an adult I haven’t eaten it at all. Maybe had Burger King fries half a dozen times in my 20’s, before cutting all fast food out |
I’m GenX and don’t have McDonald’s, Starbucks or Panera. |
|
Some people do.
Usually the poorer the more fast food they eat. Though I don’t understand it. McDonald’s felt kind of expensive to me when I went with my kids on a road trip. I hadn’t been in years before that. Keep in mind median household income for Americans 77K for a family. That means half the country makes less. The cultural differences between families above and below the 6 figure mark is enormous. Honestly, it feels like a bigger cultural shock than going abroad. |
Right??? Insufferable D-bag |
| I’m typing this from inside a McDonald’s at Wisconsin ave and Van Ness right now. |
