Front-line AO pay is low. And it's rarely where STEM grads end up professionally. Why would they be looking for 50% pay cuts off of private industry for STEM majors? |
| Colleges typically don't consider it's important to have ORM in admission offices. It's not part of the DEI effort they want. |

Untrue. |
Lol. South Asian T20 admissions reader here. |
| anecdotally I know several Asian moms applied to AO positions but were turned down. |

| I know quite a few deans who are Indian. |
| This seems to me to be a job where a humanities or education degree would be expected or helpful, which might explain the underrepresentation. I am guessing most STEM graduates do not consider admissions work. |
It really didn’t take long for you to come up with a lousy excuse like this?🤣 No, most Asians don’t live in California although California may have the highest concentration of Asians. You know racism is real when you see people jump out immediately to defend racism with lousy excuses. |

I am stunned by the racism. Of course I know the deal with DCUM- but the stupidity on this thread is extreme.
Every Asian American person is in a very high paying, prestigious job in this country- is that what you think? Do you also ask every Black person you come across if they are a professional athlete? FFS. |
| The Dean of Undergraduate Admissions at the school DC will be attending is an Asian woman. There are at least two other Asian AOs, as well as at least one who is Black and two who are Latino/a. A quick glance at the school website shows they "the vast majority are (not) white women." |
I wonder if you're referring to my post, which I didn't intend to make such a statement. I believe Asian Americans are underrepresented in majors that might lead to admissions, and overrepresented in certain majors that lead to other career paths. No implication about income or prestige. For example, if you are a STEM major, you might end up as a lab tech, IT person, etc. It would be a bit more unusual to end up in admissions, unless you were social sciences or humanities. |
