Colbert was terminated because the show was losing millions. Millions of dollars. Millions of viewers. And, tons of advertisers.
This is what happens when your show becomes nothing more than a "Hate Trump" gripe session welcoming guests who only see eye-to-eye with the host.
It was not and is not funny, which is what it is advertised as - a late night COMEDY show.
Now, Colbert is playing the victim. I'm wondering if he will even make it to May 2026.

Ha ha.

Your post is devoid of facts, bro.

Colbert has the highest rated night time talk show.

He was fired for political reasons. Period. Trump immediately posted on TS that he was thrilled Colbert was fired.

Actually, no.
Colbert was top in his time slot, but the competition there isn't much.

According to LateNighter.com, citing Nielsen ratings, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert topped the 11:35 pm hour in total viewers with an average of 2.417 million across 41 first-run episodes. The Late Show was also the only program to show an increase over the first quarter, with the show up 1%. In the coveted 18–49 demo, Colbert brought in 219,000 viewers.

The biggest ratings winner, however, was Fox News’ Gutfeld! in the 10 pm slot. The show, which takes a satirical look at the weekly news with a panel of comedians and political commentators, averaged 3.289 million viewers for the second quarter and 238,000 in the demo.

That doesn’t change the fact that CBS ended Colbert because of Trump. That should have never happened. We don’t live in Russia.

You have it bass-ackwards. We would be living in Russia if the show was kept on in the face of losing money.

If the DNC wants to start their own late night show and fund it, let them. But CBS is dropping the show because it's a financial loser.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. But a POTUS should not dictate what we watch/don’t watch.

Now he is going after the View. All because of his fragile ego.

POTUS isn't. You can watch it if you want, but if it's not financially viable, you should not dictate what CBS broadcasts.

The View is up next in the barrel. Probably because of all their slander and their lawyers having to demand the talking heads retract their lies.

Your sensitive fascist child-king apparently had someone (probably very slowly) explain to him the need to control media.

https://nuitalian.org/2023/04/27/fascism-rise-to-power-and-media-manipulation/

“While disseminating new propaganda to its citizens, the Fascist party also strongly censored information that did not agree with their views. They persecuted those who wrote against the regime and on many occasions raided bookstores that sold “contraband” (D’Amato, 2016).”

Also, somewhat related is the takeover of the Kennedy Center.

“As time went on, Mussolini began to infiltrate Italian life deeper with his manipulation campaign creating institutions like the Ministry for Popular Culture to infiltrate categories like music, theater, sports, fashion, etc. (Galdi, 2010). The ministry pushed for patriotic and nationalistic material to be created and even ordered a “fascist” fashion style to be developed and made popular”

if you want to talk about slander and liability, Fox News should’ve been off the air years ago.

Presidents shouldn’t dictate which shows get canceled because their feelings get hurt. CBS has been losing money for years. Which is why they are trying to do a merger. Why didn’t they cancel Colbert before this if it was such an if it was such a financial drag or have Colbert take a lower salary? And the late show was the only program on CBS, losing money? But yet they were able to pay over $1 billion for South Park 🤔

I think the triggering moment when Colbert fired himself from his unfunny show was when he very publicly used his platform and accused his employers of bribing Trump via the CBS settlement.

I know of no employer anywhere who would not immediately terminate an employee who directly and falsely accuse their employee of a felony. And Colbert even got about a year worth of a notice period.

I’m not MAGA or a liberal. Both things can be true - the show was losing money, and Trump wanted him shut down. Stephen Colbert will be just fine. Trump overstepped, as usual.

He will be more popular than ever before because he can now roast Epstein’s partner non-stop for nearly a year.
What was he doing before?

South Park isn't on CBS.
New ownership is looking at cutting costs. Colbert isn't the only thing being cut.

I've tried watching Gutfeld... just doesn't work. He isn't even funny. Just angry rants trying to pass for satire. Comedy works better when it's closer to the truth and he keeps missing it by a mile.

Speaking of The View , how prescient.

So can Colbert sue fcc chair for tortious interference with contract in addition to maybe the civil rico. Using the power of the state to medal with contracts sounds like a tort to me. FTCA. If maga appointee become civilly liable for the more egregious stuff it might cool their impulses. They lack presidential immunity.

Then, Paramount signed a $1.5B deal with SouthPark. First South Park episode aired last night and it was just an extended roast of Trump. Like, so bad.

This is going to be so fun.

I have never watched an episode of South Park until now.

That's a brilliant idea. Sue the FCC so it can perform discovery on all of CBS with a woodchipper. Please do!
