Oversharing colleagues -- OOO messages

Well our office has a habit of broadcast emails to the team when people are out (we have 24 hr on call coverage). I wish it was just the calendar, I probably wouldn’t be aware then.

I read some random Buzzfeed or other article last year that encouraged people to share more so emailers feel bad about bothering people when out of office. I don’t do it but maybe that’s why more people are.

Meanwhile if you need assistance with the TPS report, please reach out to Amy. I hope things firm up and I am back online tomorrow. Godspeed.

Oh my God, I would kill for somebody to use this at my work.

I work for a travel company that is high on itself and so so many of my colleagues, especially the ones that are younger or in the marketing or brand teams are like “greetings. I’m glamping from Mt. Kilimanjaro, enjoying a well-deserved rest.” I want to roll my eyes hard at them.

As someone who manages 15 people and where we have severely restricted telework, I tell people to just send me sick leave requests with zero explanation. I tell them to use it liberally if they have to take kids to the doctor. Teleworked is being tracked and senior management has actually disincentivized people WFH on days when their kids are sick.

Use it or lose it folks. Especially in this RTO environment where management is being a stickler. Do not tell me why you need to use it - I don't want to know.
