I’m sure some people think we are a big age difference couple but I don’t worry about it. He’s a great travel companion and he has the energy of someone much younger so we have a great deal of fun. The only awkward moment was at a spa in Germany which had mixed gender saunas. He was hesitant but I told him…..when in Germany!

What’s wrong with saunas?

DP, but many are nude saunas/spas and could be awkward at one of those with family. Of course you always have the option to use some swimwear, but then you stick out as tourists and everyone stares more.

So German dads and daughters showering together is… a good vacation?

Have no idea. Not going down that wooded trail Hansel.

Sadly, you head down the rabbit hole. What you think of “showering together” is nothing like what happens at a public sauna .I’ve been there and it is nothing like that as they simply have a different perspective.

No, you are not showering together in a sexual sense. It’s far from it. I’d just best describe it as an interesting asexual experience. I’m not sure I’d do it with my son but if he said this is the norm I’d do it. I did it with his father so what the heck.

Haha! I’d much rather be in a German sauna with my dad than with a bunch of random strangers.

I’ve traveled with my Dad to some incredibly remote places. For showers we’ve often just dumped buckets of water over each other’s heads. And that’s the easiest part of personal hygiene. The rest we just deal with.

Before I got married I took a few trips with my dad. He spoiled me rotten on those trips and they were so much fun. Sadly, he’s gone but those trips will never be forgotten.

Sorry I just can’t wrap my head around what perspective makes it normal to have a father shower with his daughter. No offense but just because the Germans say it’s okay doesn’t have a great track record!

We should just rename this thread The Electra Complex.

In many German spas they have large communal showers you use before and after using the sauna. It’s is nothing like a husband and wife “showering together”. I’ve done it with my husband and the whole experience is very non sexual. Would I do it with my father? I think he’d resist until I said I’m ok with it.

What exactly is the upside of showering with your father?
