Tell me you live a block from Metro without...

We do a shuttle where one family member drops the others at the metro with the luggage, drives back to the house and then runs from the house to the metro. All told, it takes about a half an hour, but driving through town with all of the traffic is more stressful.

All this to avoid paying for airport parking? Why?

It's not that big a deal to us. But it sounds like it would be for you?

I would never do this even though we live 3 miles from DCA. I’m perfectly ok with spending $20 on an uber. Every time. You do you.

I mean, very few people live within walking distance of a metro station, so yes, it seems like a silly suggestion.

“We have Dave drop us off at the metro with all the luggage and then he drops the suv back at the house, strap on his rollerblades, and he skates to metro in 15 mins. Try that, op!”

Why not line up 3 Tuk-tuks or a large horse drawn carriage?

The options for people who don’t live within walking distance of a metro are:

Taxi or uber

Drive and pay for parking

Ask someone to drop you off (family/friend).

We just drive and park. It's the easiest and most comfortable for us.

Just reserve a parking spot close in and pre-pay. Then you drive the older relatives yourself. It’s not that much more than paying car service to drive you. Plus, your car is there when you come back. If you park close in, you are literally steps from the airport. Super easy.

This is the way.

Drop the elderly relatives at the door with the luggage and have one person park in the garage attached to the airport.

Reserving doesn’t actually schedule a driver; it just saves the request to issue at that time.

With a guarantee that they will be there. Well worth booking ahead for the minimal price difference.

This. So reserve it with enough time for app to search for a driver. Or book regular taxi service in your area ahead of time.

You have clear never used it. Or at least not in the last few years. Yes you do in fact get a driver before the day of. You get their name and vehicle info.

I’ve used them 5-6 times in the past year and get the driver’s info every time.
