Same grade but not twins? Redshirt?

I would go ahead and red shirt the sister too. Having them in the same grade is asking for life long issues. You already made the decision that youre OK with your son being the oldest, so do the same with your daughter.

What year do you think it is?

I would call your local public school and ask if redshirting your daughter is allowed and explain the reason. If it is you really should have them in separate grades.

NP: Am I missing something here?

If this is what OP is considering: Sept 2020 kid will turn 5 this Sept and be in 4K. Next year he will turn 6 in Sept 2021 as he begins Kindergarten. No?

Which would be redshirting for sure, but I don’t know where people get the idea he will be turning 7 in K.

For those saying redshirting is not allowed, what do the schools do with these kids then? Just put them straight into 1st grade? Just curious. I have never heard of this.

Sorry, meant will turn 6 in Sept 2026 obviously

Where I live, a kid turning 6 in September of kindergarten would be “on time, but oldest non-redshirted kid in the grade”. Sept 1 cutoff. My birthday is late August and I was always youngest in the grade (sent on time).

A girl born in July and sent the fall immediately after she turns 6 would be redshirted. Which is common for boys, and not very common for girls. But would not be considered terribly unusual either.

How is this even possible? I assume the DD was born early? Or adopted?

Split them up. Horrible idea to put them in the same grade.

If the cut off is Sept 1, a child born in September will turn 5 right after starting K4. Not redshirting.

Yes, but the post I replied to said the child was already 5, which isn't true if born in 9/2020. He will be 4 when they start PK4, if only for a few days/weeks.

They are 10 months apart in age. Which is very possible if they got pregnant immediately after giving birth to the older kid.

Yes and to the point how the hell are you getting pregnant again 1 month or less after delivering!
