AI is destroying the job market

Yet there are very few takers. Same for teaching. Maybe the job sucks. Maybe people don’t want to work in the Wild West. Everyone can conceal carry now. No thanks.

It’s interesting that the people who want a change in a profession are unwilling to be the change. AI isn’t destroying the job market for teachers and cops. AI also won’t replace humans in those jobs.

Robotics will definitely replace some cops. I think China already has a robotic police dog.

Robots won’t replace police that patrol in our lifetimes. That’s more than can be said for the impending white collar AI doomsday scenarios.

It's wild that a "senior" person thinks they can walk off the street into a good job.

Wrong that's boomer think

What is boomer think? I am GenX and agree with PP as well…once you get to a senior level you either get a new job through your network or you are so senior that a C-suite headhunter reaches out to you.

Yes that is the general thinking, but in this market it is not working as easily or as well has it as in the past.

What fields?

Read the OP again. This is not about AI replacing actual jobs. (That’s for another thread.) This is about AI completely disrupting the job search process, which affects everyone looking for a job, including recent grads.

I was unemployed for a long stretch and I got my job on LinkedIn. Didn't have to write any cover letters that weren't read. I like my new job and they like me. So far.

I spend at least an hour, often more, tailoring my cover letter and resume and I’ve had one interview out of 30 some applications. I’m in a senior position now. I have tons of experience and these jobs are well aligned with that experience and nothing. How the heck do I get past the AI screeners and people using AI to make things up??

You tell chatgpt to revise your resume based on the job posting and to get around ATS filters.

How long ago did you get the job?
