What’s the Toyota equivalent?

The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 series, which is not sold in the U.S.

Ok so that’s super useful.

OP, just buy a car that’s not available.

It’s interesting what people decide to purchase. What makes someone want a $125k car.

You realize they can be the same person right? I just sold my 20 year old Toyota (a little surprised someone bought it) and bought a nice luxury car.

Yeah, we definitely are not buying the type of used cars that break down all the time. We still buy used but only 2-3 years old with little mileage. The other post was about how you really can’t tell whether people are wealthy based on outside appearances. I’m wondering what makes a person buy the type of car that is that much money. Especially when there are cars or SUVs with the same quality for half the price.

Like all new vehicles, the depreciation is pretty extreme. Your $135,000 LX700h will be worth $80,000 in about a year. But I don't know anyone that's buying second hand commuting vehicles at that price point, so I suspect the value is a lot less. That's roughly $55,000 or more gone for a little commuting. And $55,000 gets you some really nice and memorable travel experiences. It depends on what your wife values. But I would take a years worth of $55,000 life and travel experiences over an overpriced commuter vehicle every day of the week.

The LX is a highly desirable car. Depreciation on it is much lower. I own an old one and it’d would still go for about 35k.

There’s a 2023 LX600 with 17k miles for 93k on Carvana right now. The 700h is much nicer.

Or get her a loaded GX550 and spend the remaining 50k on some other fun thing.

Pay cash. I don’t see anyway the math can make financing better.

Hi op - if you are able to ask this question, I'd say just pay in full. Why bother having a payment - one more complication in life.

If you’re trying to tell your wife that she’s special to you, there are a lot of better and cheaper ways to do it. Are you sure you’re not getting this car for yourself under the guise of being Mr. Generous?

That vehicle is a behemoth. Is your wife over landing between runs to the grocery store and the beach house?

Get her a smaller luxury SUV.

Is that one of the big ones? Yikes. Get a tank.
If interest rate even comes to your head, you shouldn't be buying it. I will never know why having money somehow makes people want worse things. Why would she ever want to drive this? Will she be hauling her crap around?
I wanted 0% loan and got it. I also wanted a small, cheap car I can park in the city and not worry about scratches. I got it.
You sound like my ex. He bought me stuff that made him feel good.

Buying expensive cars =\= having money.
