Picture above is with 8ft ceiling. Relatives have something similar on regular 8 ft ceilings but different style doors that slide horizontally instead of opening out.

That picture two posts above? No way that’s 8ft ceiling.

Looks like it, but with a semi-recessed area in center of ceiling.

Are we looking at different pictures? The one I see has a “globe” light in the forefront. The cabinetry on stove top wall is very tall. Look at the drip coffee maker for perspective. The black bar under the glass door cabinets is likely used to attach a ladder so you can reach them. That’s not 8ft.

What.....
ever.

It gave the OP the idea of what was talking about. It works with 8ft ceilings.

Wow, how tall are you, 7ft tall? Or are you talking about extra long/high cabinets with normal bottom starting height?

We had cabinets that went all the way to 10ft ceilings (crown molding above). We had this thing called a ladder.

A rolling ladder in the kitchen like a library? Funny.

Another alternative that was used for years was to sheetrock in the space above the cabinets. Just throwing that out there if extra tall cabinets or extra cabinets above the regular ones, are too much expense, yet you don't want a space there to dust and collect cobwebs.

The PP was just pedantically correcting the spelling in the post.
