How much does valedictorian matter?

Update - got back June SAT score 800V/730M.
And no, not “valedictorian” per se but “most outstanding student below senior year” based on grades and rigor.

Do scores mean that it is strategic to switch from neuroscience major/creative writing minor to a double major to maximize 800 impact? Or is this just silliness?

It doesn't matter for the schools you list. They don't admit by major and they know that many kids change their minds. They want to see intellectually engaged students who are interested in something(s) and can explain that interest.

Private HS?
Does kid have English ECs?
Neuroscience ECs? I’d apply everywhere as English major if there is evidence.
