New weapons screening & medical devices

^^Especially since TJ is such a small school., they should have the fewest issues with long lines.

Lack of planning yields poor results. Totally a predictable outcome with FCPS.

They stopped the screening early

I don't think my kids school has had it yet.

My kid hasn't mentioned it, and she is the type to complain about things making her late. I haven't heard neighbors complain either.

Nope, I asked, they had them hand over their laptops and phones and waived them through the scanner.

This was long overdue.

My child's school has done it every day for weeks and since she takes the bus, she has 10+ tardies. Except one day, when it was raining, they didn't do it.

STOP. Every school has reported long lines so stop.

I hope your child was ok. I’m sorry they’re having to deal with this at school. I do think the weapon detectors are critical for safety, but I can see how your child and others need to know and be prepared. I hope the process gets better.

As everyone has explained, this is security theater and does nothing for safety and does nothing to keep school shootings from happening. Literally nothing.

Shooters usually aren't coming from inside the school. 61% are from outside in

Not at our school, you information is bad.

Scanners at West Potomac would have prevented a stabbing.

Which school didn't have long lines? Maybe they should share their process with the other schools.

1. The scanner is not detecting all knives and
2. You think the West Po kid would have stood in line and gone through the scanner with his knife? Come on now. There are still a thousand ways to
get a weapon into school.

There is no way logistically to move 2500 kids individually thru 2 metal detectors taking out their laptops, notebooks etc in the 20 minutes between unlocked school doors and the late bell.

That's why cops are needed at the schools along with the security screenings.

They need the metal detectors, mode SRPS, more security guards, a process for students to report bullying and harassment and violence, and more supervision around bathrooms.
