The K list is moving.

Do you know by how much?

I know a friend with a single digit number got in last week — I don’t know more than that. What number are you waiting on?

Does anyone know if there been any movement on the 1st grade waitlist for RCF?

I wish I had intel for you. At this point I would call the office and ask if it has moved at all. The 1st grade wait lists aren’t going to see the same wait list churn that K does. It’s likely that the lists have settled by now, but just like for K, people may change their minds right as school as starting. I know in our year at SCES they got to #2 on the wait list right before school started.

The early teens. Do you feel comfortable sharing which single digit?

Thanks regardless!

I understand one student so far has been called from the waitlist.

Sligo has moved by at least 8.

Will any of this matter after next year when the new regional programs roll out? What is everyone’s plan B?

Where can I find more info about these regional programs? I wasn't aware of them. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction and thanks to others for sharing useful information on here.

I do think that poster was trolling wrt immersion.

But the regional programs are going to be unveiled soon I think, for middle and high school.

You should have received a program survey about a month ago asking you to rate different programs by order of importance. This gives you an idea of what programs will remain after the changes go into effect.

Then, look at the 13 person teams that Taylor created in central office. These are the regional teams. They are already meeting weekly to discuss the needs of their region.

MCPS said they would release program information in June, but nothing yet. Expect information in time to inform the 2026-27 school enrollment/application/lottery season. Predictions are that MCPS will offer less so that programs can be uniform across regions.

This is all on top of the boundary changes that will affect which physical building your child can attend.

Right but there’s absolutely zero reason to think immersion programs are on the chopping block. I haven’t even seen this mentioned anywhere.

Is there a point in time when all parents will receive an email with an update on their place on he waitlist? Or is the we received the last one that we'll get, and they only contact you if there is a spot available for you?

Elementary school programs aren't even part of the program analysis, they are just doing HS and middle school for now (and even those it is very unclear how soon changes might happen.). So it would probably be years until any changes in the immersion programs, if at all.
