What part of Kauai with teens

I agree but if traveling during the rainy season when the northern waves get crazy, might want to choose the South.

Agree with all the recommendations to stay north, not south. The snorkeling is incredible, the beaches are low-key amazing, the hiking is some of the best in the world, and the food is great. We’ve been when my kids were younger and also I’m their early teens, and we loved it both times. To me, the rural beauty is part of what makes it so special. Truly the best place I’ve ever been.

We stayed near the airport (at about 3 o’clock on the dial) and had an amazing VRBO rental that had once been owned by one of the Little Rascals. Beautiful MCM interior, hot tub on the deck, and the owner left us daily fruit picked on the property.

Easy (and gorgeous) drives north and south—we hiked from 1 to about 11 (which is tropical) then drove around and hiked 9-11 (which is desert). The only paths from 11-1 were ones we did not want to take!

Enjoy—it is a spectacular place.

Just go to Maui. It’s the best island.
