What is that massive increase in tariffs at the beginning of Biden's term? There wasn't a large tariff increase around then. Trump's previous Tariffs were over a year before. |
If you’re like me — 23, working-class and born into a country already on fire — President Donald Trump’s first 100 days feel less like chaos and more like clarity. For the first time in years, there’s motion. Bureaucracies that seemed untouchable are getting streamlined. Energy policy is shifting. Agencies that operated without accountability are being challenged. The tone in Washington is sharp, confrontational and direct. The generational split here is obvious. Older Americans, especially those with pensions and property, are panicked by any shake-up. They’ve spent decades benefiting from inflated assets and cheap debt. For them, even a modest dip in the markets feels like a threat to their way of life. But for my generation, disruption is normal. We graduated into an economy that felt rigged, got smacked by a pandemic, drowned in inflation and watched every institution, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to the Ivy League, burn through credibility like kindling. We’ve been priced out of homes, overregulated at entry-level jobs and gaslighted into thinking we’re lazy for questioning it all. This is what makes Trump’s second term feel different. It’s not just about remaking policy; it’s about recalibrating reality. Now, we’re watching someone bulldoze the mess and start re-laying the foundation. Yes, people are screaming. They’re calling it dangerous, reckless, authoritarian. But if you grew up watching your generation get crushed by the consequences of bipartisan cowardice, this doesn’t feel like tyranny. It feels like someone finally picking up the shovel. |
Gen X here. We paid into a system (SS, Medicare) our entire working lives with promise of some level of return, and are now on the cusp of retirement - you’re goddamn right we’re pissed. And you need to wake the fck up. Trump isn’t reordering things in your favor. |
Keep yelling at the deplorables. I.e. your neighbors children that are struggling. How dare they want decent jobs. Who do they think they are ? |
+1 |
And you seem to have completely missed the point. Trump is not your savior. He is not working for anyone other than himself and his donors. Unemployment is about to skyrocket when small businesses fail because of his tariffs. Inflation will balloon when demand outstrips supply. I’m all for reforming the system, but this isn’t reformation, it’s destruction with no long term plan behind it. |
Securing Our Borders and Increasing Interior Enforcement
Border Patrol agents apprehended 8,347 illegal aliens between southern border ports of entry in February 2025, the lowest number of monthly apprehensions since FY 2000. This constituted a 94 percent decrease from February 2024, in which 140,641 were apprehended. Border encounters per day hit a 15-year-low of 200 individuals on February 24. In a February 26 press release, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced that in just one month under President Trump, more than 20,000 illegal aliens were arrested, which the Secretary noted is a “627% increase in monthly arrests compared to just 33,000 at large arrests under Biden for ALL of last year.” |
Launching the CBP Home App to Encourage Aliens to Self-Deport
On March 10, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the launch of the CBP Home App. The app features a self-deportation reporting feature, encouraging aliens illegally in the U.S. to leave voluntarily and gain a chance of returning legally in the future. |
Designating Sanctuary Jurisdictions and Fighting to Enforce Our Laws
On April 28, President Trump signed an Executive Order, “Protecting American Communities from Criminal Aliens.” The Order directs the Attorney General and Secretary of Homeland Security to publish a list of sanctuary jurisdictions within 30 days; moves to restrict federal funding going to such jurisdictions; and instructs the Attorney General and Secretary of Homeland Security to take legal action as appropriate to ensure that sanctuary jurisdictions are complying with our laws. |
Most of us Gen-Xers saved a lot in 401Ks that have compounded like crazy for 30+ years. I'm not pissed at all. I never thought SS would be there for me so I saved accordingly. |
Decent jobs like at UPS that just laid off 20,000? Or picking strawberries with no water breaks? What job do you think you're getting? |
I hear you pp, but he doesn't have a plan and he doesn't care about anyone 23 and working class. Bernie was your ticket. I live in a midwest state and the GOP here is rabidly focused on anti-medicaid, anti-women, anti trans, anti immigration, anti-science. That's the focus- remaking social issues, not helping people. Ask how our farmers are doing? University labs funded by USAID and intended to increase food stability? Rural healthcare? Housing? Rent? Our democratic governor has brought in a lot of business, so there will be some jobs. |
I get why you think that way. You were 13 or 14 when Trump showed up. You have no concept of a government run properly. Even under Biden, Trump was running a shadow Presidency and all the Republicans were backing him. Gone were the days when the Republican congressmen told Nixon he needed to resign. I was a little naive when I was 23 and I'm met some wealthy people since then. What you are missing is that he is picking up the shovel to smack you on the head with. This country will not recover from his destruction until you are old. Maybe your kids if you have any will have a chance at it. All his smoke and mirrors are robbing you under your nose. |
So much lecturing from the elites as they import more and more cheap Foreign labor
Our roads are crowded. Our cities are crowded our real estate is unaffordable Whatever benefits we had we gave away to the elites who are demand cheap labor to support their lifestyles But go ahead Keep Lecturing that we should have gone to Yale |
