I’m just surprised because I would have agreed with you, in 2012. But it’s been years and years since I have had all LED switches and I don’t think I even have any incandescent bulbs. Maybe one lamp? |
| I use a sharpie on any LED bulb to mark the install date. I have yet to have one last longer than 3 years. The whole thing is a scam. |
The people with extreme experiences are the ones who care the most and post. Not weird. I do wish LEDs were a better value. I think the companies overstated the life length early on. Many companies dropped their warranty lengths as prices dropped. I think they counted on people not trying to get warranty replacements. Kind of like cheap watches. The cost of return shipping is high proportionate to the price. |
| I wish I remember the brands I've installed over the years. I have LEDs that I put in 11 years ago that are still going strong. This was when they were a premium compared to incandescents or CFLs. Given the price disparity, I slowly replaced the incandescents with LEDs over the years. However, ones that I've bought in the last 3-5 years, some stop working in less than a year. |
| I have this problem despite buying Creed brand for dimmer switches. It's very frustrating. |

LEDs are not supposed to be turned off/on frequently.
Flipping the switch is more damaging and contributes more amortized energy use than letting it run. |
I got a bunch from ikea five years ago when we moved and I haven’t had to replace any of them. I don’t think ikea is special. I think if you’re losing bulbs, it’s gotta be a switch or wiring situation. |
You haven't replaced a light bulb in 5 years? BS. |
|
Same. I only get about 2 years out of mine. It's very annoying.
The one good thing that I like is that they put off significantly less heat. |
