Alcohol at children's birthday parties

It's totally fine, we do it all the time.

Agree with PP.

It's a celebration! Bring on the champagne. We offer beer, wine, champagne, and liquor (gin and tonics are perfectly acceptable mid-day drinks in my book). We also make sure there are a lot of non-alcoholic beverages to choose from too.

What's this big deal with alcohol? It's fine as long as nobody gets drunk, and I believe people know how to behave at kids' b day parties. Don't you have a glass of wine with dinner in front of your kids?

Kids are 3 and 4 yo, and we've offered beer and wine to the adults at every one of their parties held at our house. Most of my friends do the same.

honestly, as long as it's not vodka at 8am i think it's totally fine... in fact, mimosas sound classy and cheerful to me. go for it.

I think it's fine. If we had a bday party at home, I'd serve beer & wine.

We have alcohal if the party is a lot of adults. Especially the in-laws. There would be mutiny if we didn't. Now, I do have to say, I've asked everyone to put down their beers for a picture (and had to crop out the beers from a few pics).

I will say, it isn't needed, but it does tend to put the adults more at ease. And coming from a home where alchohal was never present, I'd rather my son see it and not think of it as forbidden.

I'm for it too!

As long as you aren't letting the kids drink.....lol
(This comment is for those of you with the sticks up your A$$ and think that adults should have no adult fun at a child's party)

By the way, how many of you drink wine every night with dinner etc. (parents that is).

Let them eat cake!

i'm not against alcohol but if you NEED it to have fun it's sign of a very serious problem.

are YOU serious? please.

i'd be willing to wager that your co-workers who are anti-alcohol-at-kids-parties do not have children of their own.

Some people have big fun house parties for kid's birthdays so what's the big deal? my kids are teens so when I read the title the first thought was OK what idiot do I have to be polite to after they just hosted a HS party pre or post game? Too many bro parties in their houses.

We've done a brunch every year for the past three birthdays, and the mimosas are usually flowing freely. Some coworkers agreed with it and others thought it was unheard of. Thoughts?

You and your coworkers have waaay too much free time on your hands.

OP here. We were discussing it over lunch. Heaven forbid we have enough time for lunch!
