What’s considered the cutoff for a “good” SAT score these days?

But only if you also have 3.9UW or higher.

So is 1350/1400 as hard to get as it was in the 80s? Or is the scoring easier now?

They aren't remotely the same as in the 80's. I had a 1370 in the 80's and it was 98th percentile I believe.

A score of 1300 or more is really good!

FYI the median SAT score at University of Maryland is a 1465.

IMO ACT 34 / SAT 1500 is considered "good"

1520+ cutoff for top selective schools if not recruited athlete or from underserved community - for T20

Depending on the school. A good SAT score is the median SAT for that particular school. A score that meets the threshold is their 25% sat score. Fairly easy to figure out.

The math is fuzzy. You need to be near the top of your high school average no matter what. Unfortunately that means if you are at one of those high schools where 100 seniors score 1500+ then you are SOL.

It’s good as long as it starts with 15.

This is horse crap. DC’s entire school doesn’t have more than 5 over 3.9, yet 30% go to top 20.

Meaningless since so many don’t even submit scores!

Exactly. People are waaaay overestimating what it takes to get in. People routinely get into top schools with 1200-1400s. They just go TO.

It's good a lot lower than that, too. A 1450 is 96th percentile. This is one of those questions that brings out responses that don't represent reality and just freak people out.

GPA varies from school to school. Some schools 3.5 equates to other schools 3.9. That is why we need standardized test scores.

Same. HS class of 2025, 1560, 12 AP/DE, 3.99 uw, waitlisted at Mich, Tufts, NEU, NYU, denied Brown Columbia BU UCs Georgetown USC.

I agree with the PP that a high score can help with merit offers, but at less selective schools.

Same for 1570, top grade and rigor, waitlisted or rejected at all top schools

This is not always true. You should take the SAT during whatever grade you are in pre-calc because most of the math questions are from that course. My niece took pre-calc this year in 9th grade, so she took the SAT. She got a 1500. Her teacher told her that if she had waited until 11th, she might have scored lower because the pre-calc isn't as fresh.
