sibley c section - immediate skin to skin?

I had a vaginal there and didn’t get skin to skin right away. Baby was a rough delivery and they whisked him away to about 6 waiting people.

Try and remember this. The most important thing is you and the baby being healthy. You have the rest of your life to bond. The golden hour is nonsense.

it's a major procedure. They need a few minutes to get everything done safely for you and the baby. They handed ours to DH pretty quickly and as others said laid high up on my chest for a short while and photos. For one baby, I got to hold him in the recovery room and had him continuously after. Other baby needed to go to the NICU.

I still BF'd for over a year. This small stuff looks large but doesn't matter. Kids are now a little older but real snugglers. There are hours and days and years ahead to bond.

I felt really depressed about that - like I’d missed our one chance to start out on the right foot. (My husband did so skin to skin with her, but I didn’t feel up to holding her without blacking out for a few hours.) 12 years later she’s amazing and snuggly and we have a great connection. I wish I hadn’t stressed as much about it. I know that doesn’t answer your question, but just an FYI.

When my kids were born, it wasn't even a thing.
