I would be LIVID if I had to spend $92 on an oil change on a freakin Mazda. |
It is not that bad given inflation and all. And it is full synthetic so it gets you going for 10,000 miles. If you do it yourself it will cost you $40-50 in parts. I don’t think the dealership makes any money on oil changes, they are just hoping to upsell you on other services. Well, maybe Porsche dealerships do. I heard they charge $500 for oil changes. |
Pretty sure you need a special certification to change breaks. At least, to change them and charge people money under a business. I wouldn’t definitely not want anyone changing my breaks that learned on YouTube during the pandemic |
DP but no you don't need any "permission" to do any work you want to do on your own vehicle. |
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Where do y’all come up with this sh!t?!?!?!? |
It’s a terrible deal. 5 qts of Mobil 1 and a filter is about $32 at any Walmart. That’s a retail price, btw. The dealership is paying half that or maybe even less, you can bet on it. So they’re making $75 on each oil change, which is about 8-10 minutes work for a trainee technician. A good tech can knock out 4 changes in an hour, counting the time it takes to get the cars into the garage and over the pit or on the lift. So potentially the dealership is making $300/hr just on oil changes. And you think they’re taking it as a loss leader?!?! FFS, you don’t know anything about the car business, friend. |
When you come to a dealership someone takes your car and checks you in, they need to get paid. You wait in a nice waiting room in a nice building, someone needs to pay rent for the building. Your mechanic doesn’t work for formula one so he is not going to sprint to get your car into the bay and do oil change, multi point inspection, and get the report to the service advisor in 15 minutes. It is fair to allow the mechanic to get paid at least for 30 minutes. The tools, lift, the facility he uses are not free either. If something goes wrong like your car falls off the lift or you come back next week and complain that they screwed up your stereo while changing oil the dealership is going to take care of it. You see where I am going with this, friend? |
First, I’m not your friend. I can guarantee we wouldn’t like each other IRL. Secondly, you have no clue how service depts work. I can definitely tell that. |
You are not my friend? Then you are a liar, buddy. I can definitely tell that. Reread your own useless post dum dum. |

Jiffy L is a no
Google why |
| If you are worried about JiffyLube upsell, you can basically get a binding estimate from their website, and tell them that is what you want. but if you are paying for engine air filter or cabin filter changes, you are an idiot. Costs $10 on amazon and youtube video to show you how to change them for your make/model. |
