Have you ever dealt with elderly people? Particularly in the Midwest?

On my FILs farm his phone / cable service goes out all time because the cables accidentally get cut when they do road maintenance.

You can't get cell service on his farm unless you drive to the top of the nearest hill.

He lives 10 miles from Topeka Kansas. There are still stores there selling used DVDs because there is a demand.

Well, I live in Bethesda and have a PhD but not one person I know is on X.

Call your Republican representatives and say this is a non-starter for the SSA.

I don't live in Kansas, but my FIl should call if he has working phone service.

I don't know a single person who is still on X, and most people 65+ don't care about X at all and aren't going to join if they aren't already on there.
It was
Sounds like a desperate attempt to prop up the platform.

Once more: this is a false report. It was not put out by the headquarters SSA. And, FWIW, most media is on X. If they see something, they will report it. Where do people get their news? From the media. Do you think the population is going online to check press releases?

Maybe it's false.

But that SSA person was definitely told this.

So you are advocating for removing all official communication and replacing it with Xitter rumormomgering?

Follow along. A news outlet reported that the Midwestern SS administrator said they would not be sending out press releases, but posting on X. The source was people who were present. So, it is either true or not.
However, SSA headquarters put out a report that it was not true. So, maybe it is true for the midwestern SSA, but not for Social Security HQ.

In any case, what she reportedly said was that they would not be emailing out press releases but posting on X.

Now, please think about this: Social Security sends their press releases to the media via email. Even if ALL of SSA follows this, it affects no one but the media.
But, people like Elizabeth Warren who made a big deal of this loves to fear monger at every opportunity.

I'm on Social Security. I get nothing from them except a deposit and an update of benefits. I do not get press releases.
