My sister and I are heading to our Carolina county courthouse for the protest on April 5. I have never taken part in a political event of any sort before. I expect there will be a bunch of guys in jumped up pick-up trucks giving us a hard time, but I can handle being jeered at. |

I voted for Harris. But I've never participated in any march, protest, demonstration or rally. That's just not me. I'm not going to start now. I don't support what Trump's doing...but I'll still shop at Target if the need arises and I'll still support my DD's boyfriend who owns a Tesla. I'm also not unfriending family and friends who voted for Trump.
I personally have more important things on my plate right now. Sure...you'll argue "what's more important than saving our democracy"....but I'll counter that with...aside from making you feel better, IMHO any march, protest, demonstration or rally against Trump is pointless. It's my vote that will serve our nation better than any march, protest, demonstration or rally. I also am starting to get this vibe that those who are choosing to march/protest or participate in demonstrations/rallies are pressuring people to do the same. That is not going to win any favors from me. I didn't march in BLM and I recall my teenagers at the time feeling the peer pressure to participate. That's very wrong IMHO. So while I support anyone participating in marches, protests, demonstrations or rallies...I don't support pressuring people to do so. So...no, I'm not going to the protests on April 5th. I respect those who do go and expect the same respect in return for those like me who choose not to. |
