| Yeah, no. I would just walk right out of the insisted. |
|
I remember a restaurant asking that back years ago around 2021. I just said either "I don't share my number" or "I don't have a phone".
They just want your number to sell it to marketing and advertising firms. Many grocery stores sell your data now with those "loyalty cards" that track your every purchase. They lure you in by giving you a "discount" if you use them. |
Everyone has a phone, numbnuts |
Who cares. I use the discount. |
| Use a fake number. |
"If you have nothing to hide, then why care about privacy?" I mean sure. |
| Jsut say, “no thank you.” |
But that doesn't work if there is a legitimate waiting line. They want to text you when your table is ready. A fake phone number goes nowhere and you're still standing there waiting for a table. This is why they should stick to the buzzer system. No one should be forced to give up their personal cell phone number and be required to open up a third-party app which (in the small print) you give permission to do anything with your info they want. That's a hella price to pay for sitting down and eating a burger. |
Most people are so gullible about PERSEC and will accept that. |
| I sincerely wonder if this cuts down on dine and dash. |
This |
| 703-867-5309. My name is Jenny. I will be at the bar waiting. |
| I work in restaurant we only ask if wait 15-30 minutes. So we can text them when table is ready . Otherwise no . We have table we sit walk in right the way . Although we had cases when they have left something behind and we were not able to reach them . |
Who texts them? Does a hostess have to use her personal phone to text strangers? That seems wrong too. |
It’s most likely a Twilio integration texting them. They’re obviously not texting from their personal devices. |
