How Will We Know The Point at Which Air Travel is Just Too Risky?

It made it less convenient because anytime Marine One is in the air, they close DC airspace, which either puts flights arriving into DCA in a holding pattern, or they get diverted to nearby airports. I’ve been avoiding booking through DCA for that reason.

In early February, we were on a Friday afternoon flight at DCA about to take off—and then sat on the runway for another 15+ minutes. The pilot apologized for the delay saying we were delayed “due to VIP movement.” I could see the four helicopters flying along the Potomac. So I agree, DCA is now less convenient because of the greater chance at being delayed or diverted when Marine One is nearby
